Cut to the quick

Well our dog bailey was injured last night. (be warned this is a yucky story-if you are squeamish beware) I am still not really sure how, but she sliced her nail through the quick. I am sure I need to do a better job of trimming those nails. So I tried to stop the bleeding but to no avail. There was cornstarch blood all over my kitchen floor (which is carpeted by the way-that was FUN to clean). So at 10:30 after 3 hours of bleeding Joe came home from class and took her to the 24 hour vet in town. They cut the nail and flesh that was hanging by a thread off and bandaged her up. Of course Bailey chewed off the bandage through the night, but so far has not bled again. As long as she doesn't bump it hard she should be ok at this point.

I felt badly though because Joe and I have been desperately attempting to get out of debt and this was an added expense we didn't have the cash for. Slow but sure we will get out, but set-backs are frustrating. I know we should have an emergency fund set up, and we will do that, but we weren't ready yet.

So for the first time in a while I didn't go to church on Sunday and I actually didn't feel horrible about it. We didn't go because the kids were sick, otherwise I enjoy seeing friends who I otherwise dont have time to see. But Ididn't feel guilty for not going like I usually do. I know that Jesus loves me no matter what and going to church is not a requirement to obtain that love.

I still don't feel closer to Him than before at this point, but I have been talking to Jesus in a more normal conversation. Every day I want to learn something new about Father and I hope He meets me there.
